The use of diegetic sound lets the viewer know that Robert DeNiro is in the scene and his monologue is directed at the kids.
2. Brick: In a pivotal scene in ‘Brick’ the main character, Brendan, discovers the body of his ex-girlfriend. The camera closes up on Brendans face, and as he hears something he looks to the left. The camera then goes to his point of view and zooms in on the long, unlit tunnel to the left as we hear footsteps running down it and Brendan jumps up and runs after them.
3. Dexter: In episode 6 of season 1, Dexter receives a phone call from his girlfriend Rita while he’s at the police station.
