3 examples of continuity editing

Almost Famous -
The scene where the characters Penny Lane (Kate Hudson) and William Miller(Patrick Fugit) are leaving a concert through the back stage door, walking up the ramp to the parking lot while talking at the same time. The first shot is a crane shot, giving a birdseye view of their conversation as they walk towards the camera. It then cuts to a medium shot of them walking still talking, still moving towards the camera. Then the shot follows them as they walk. They both stop and turn the medium shot remains, now showing the conversation at side angle. It then cuts to a close up of Penny Lane. Then a close up of William reacting to her. It cuts back and forth between their two close-ups finishing up the conversation. Then the shot moves out on William's close up moving back as he walks backwards out of the conversation. Then cuts to a similar shot of Penny doing the same thing in the opposite direction but in a wider shot showing the space between them now. Then it cuts back to the crane shot showing them both backing up still talking and parting ways. It then cuts back to a medium shot of him running in one direction and her walking in the other. It ends with the crane shot following him as he runs through the parking lot.

Skins - TV series
This is a scene that takes place at the end of the episode where the character Cassie finds a note and an apple from a friend who's apartment she was staying in.

The scene opens with transition shots panning over the New York skyline and then a medium shot from a high angle of her sleeping in a dimly lit room, the note and apple sitting on the bed next to her. the shot remains as she opens her eyes seeing the note and the green apple. The voiceover of her friend reading the note begins and the shot starts pulling out as she sits up grabbing the note and the apple. It stops following her, framing her in a medium shot sitting on the bed reading the note apple in the other hand. There is then a cut away of the note. Back to the medium shot of her sitting on the bed as she drops the note on the floor after learning he's left and she can stay as long as she likes. She bites into the apple music that has been building peaks and it cuts from her chewing the apple to a wall of blank canvases. Back again to the medium shot of her eating the apple. She starts to cry and the shot starts to pull back making her looks smaller and smaller, now showing the whole room with her small in the center, it cuts to her running through the streets of NYC, a medium shot from the side, cut to a closer shot of her still running, also from the side. Then an even closer shot of now just the upper half of her body, she bobs in and out of frame with the running motion, the camera moving with her. Turning the corner the shot still moving with her now watches her run away from the back at wide shot, then cuts to a medium shot of her still running back to the camera. It stops moving with her and lets run away from it into a crowd of people. Losing her, the camera pans from the crowd up to the skyline fading out.
