I love the darkness of the shot, it really personifies some of the real streets of Boston.

This is the class blog for the University of Rhode Island Fall 2009 sections of Art 215 - Video & Filmmaking I. The weekly 20 second video is due to be posted before midnight on Sunday, every Sunday. Be sure to comment on at least 5 other videos.
the darkness really gives it a noire-grittiness. it makes the role of the sound even more important, because we are getting so little real info from the pic. if we heard something other than sirens, this whole thing could be read v differently. Nice!
ReplyDeleteThat is great! I didn’t know that some streets in Boston could be so dark… And it is so true that we pay more attention to the sound when we are in the dark… I really like the siren. Really impressive!
ReplyDeleteI really like the darkness along with the sound. It gives off an entire dark feeling almost like a beginning to a film noir.
ReplyDeleteaah, the sound of Boston..i miss Boston common. I love the darkness of your video and that siren in the background made it more eerie.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that being set in such a good sized city, its so dark, sets the mood for the clip!
ReplyDeletei like this a lot--in contrast especially to the other boston video. There, we had this bright city at night, but you show us another side. With the sirens too, it's up to us to determine there is danger, and that the darkness also brings that danger. SWEET!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agree with the above comments about this video's noire-esque qualities. Since I am left with little visual stimulation I am drawn in by the sound and the desire to make out more of the details. Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteREALLY gives the feel of walking around a city at night. I loved the darkness of the scene and the police siren wailing was perfect.
