This is the class blog for the University of Rhode Island Fall 2009 sections of Art 215 - Video & Filmmaking I. The weekly 20 second video is due to be posted before midnight on Sunday, every Sunday. Be sure to comment on at least 5 other videos.
This video is unique given the contrast of situations between what is going on in portsmouth and what is going on in tiverton. What we see is a big mess of a fire across the water, but here(where the shot is being taken) it is calm. No one is talking, and all we hear is the calming sound the crickets. In my imagination, I expect the next shot to be at least twice as hectic and noisy with fire trucks blaring and people scrambling.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a big fire, indeed.
ReplyDeleteAnd it looks quite beautiful, (as long as you think no one is hurt). Could look wonderful in slow motion.
I like the way the sky the lights up from the fire
ReplyDeletei really like the sound/sight contrast
ReplyDeleteI love that visually the fire is so big and raging, but all you can hear is crickets and quiet. This also shows how important film is as a medium for journalism. You could've sent this in to the local news.
ReplyDeleteI Don't mean to sound repetitive but the contrast between the raging fire and peaceful crickets is awesome.
